STATON ENDORSES SCOTT YORK FOR LOUDOUN COUNTY BOARD CHAIRMAN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 17, 2011

Today in Ashburn, former Supervisor Mick Staton announced his endorsement of Scott York for the Republican nomination for Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors.  Staton represented the Sugarland Run District on the Board from 2004-2007.

“Loudoun County, like Virginia, is facing serious economic hardships, and we need strong, experienced leadership to help us weather this storm,” Staton said.  “Scott’s leadership on the Board fighting against higher residential property taxes and government overspending, and to stop onerous legislation like the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Ordinance has been vital. Working with Governor Bob McDonnell, Scotthas secured tens of millions of dollars in state money for important transportation improvements along Route 7.”

York served four years as Sterling District Planning Commissioner and four years as Sterling District Supervisor, followed by the past 12 years as Chairman of the Board.  In 2003 York left the Republican Party to run as an Independent, but filed to run for the Republican nomination for Chairman and has vowed to stay in the Party and support all Republican candidates.

The Loudoun County Republican Convention will be held on Saturday, July 23rd at Tuscarora High School, where local Republicans will nominate their candidates for Sheriff, Treasurer, Commonwealth’sAttorney, Commissioner of the Revenue, and all nine seats on the Board of Supervisors.

“I am impressed with Scott’s decision to return to the Republican Party, and his ongoing commitment to the pro-family, conservative values that we share,” Staton continued.  “It’s time to put aside the disagreements of the past and unite our Party.  This year we have the opportunity to return the Board of Supervisors to Republican control and move Loudoun County toward a brighter future. Scott York is the best candidate to lead the way, and I urge all Republicans to support him at the upcoming Convention.”

York Endorses Dick Black For Republican Senate Nomination

Leesburg, VA | June 13, 2011—Loudoun County Board Chairman Scott York today announced his endorsement of Dick Black as the Republican nominee for the 13th District seat in the Virginia Senate.

“Dick Black is the most qualified, experienced and electable candidate in this race, and he has my full support,” said York, who is seeking the Republican nomination to serve his fourth term as Chairman. Two other candidates are seeking the Republican nomination for the Senate seat, but Black is the only one from Loudoun County.

Black represented Loudoun in the Virginia House of Delegates for eight years, and his first election returned the House to Republican hands for the first time in over 100 years. “Our support for Dick Black is more urgent this year than ever,” said York. “Dick’s election in November will give Republicans the unprecedented opportunity to secure a majority in both the Senate and House. That means Governor McDonnell’s pro-jobs agenda will be more successful here in Loudoun County and throughout Virginia, as will our ability to build the roads we need and to protect our citizens from violent crime.”

“Dick is a man of strong conviction and principle,” said York. “We share a deep commitment to pro-life values, to protecting our Second Amendment rights, to educational choice, and to fighting for lower taxes for families and businesses.” York says he is focused on signing up delegates for the Republican County Convention on July 23rd at Tuscarora High School, but will also be campaigning actively with Black. The Republican nomination for the 13th District Senate seat will be determined in a primary election on August 23rd.
