Statement of the Honorable Scott K. York,
Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors
Regarding LCRC Political Piece

Leesburg, VA | November 1, 2011

“I am appalled by and condemn the offensive image of President Obama that was used in a satirical piece of political campaign literature.  This violates the boundaries of propriety and civility that thoughtful and respectful public and political discourse demand.  All of us—Republicans, Democrats, and Independents—must hold ourselves to the high standards of deportment and decency that our society expects.”

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell Endorses Scott York

I have made job creation and economic growth in the Commonwealth my administration’s top priority. As Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, Scott York has shared my commitment to refocusing government on its core priorities, keeping taxes and regulation low, and investing in real transportation solutions to provide the tools necessary for the private sector to grow and create more jobs and opportunity for Loudoun County families. Scott is a strong asset and voice for the residents of Loudoun County. Please join me in strongly supporting Scott York’s reelection as Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

YORK SECURES REPUBLICAN NOMINATION FOR FOURTH TERM

AS BOARD CHAIRMAN

Leesburg, VA | July 26, 2011—On Saturday, July 23, at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg, Scott York achieved what many thought impossible just a few months ago. York secured the Republican nomination in his re-election bid for a fourth term as Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

Following a four-month battle with former Supervisor Steve Stockman, York prevailed by emphasizing his accomplishments in building Loudoun’s commercial tax base, adding jobs, and securing significant transportation improvements. He also stressed his commitment to budget reform and lower residential property taxes. York voted against the new County budget earlier this year after the Democrat majority on the Board voted down his motion for a lower tax rate.

York also prevailed due to an unprecedented show of unity with other GOP leaders, including endorsements from Supervisors Eugene Delgaudio and Lori Waters, Sheriff’s nominee Mike Chapman, Treasurer Roger Zurn, Clerk of the Court Gary Clemens, Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman, Commissioner of Revenue Bob Wertz, and 7 of the 8 other Republican candidates for the Board of Supervisors. York was also supported by several Republican members of Loudoun’s General Assembly delegation, and other Republican and community leaders.

“I am proud to be leading the Republican ticket, and deeply thankful to my campaign team and the many friends who made it possible for me to secure this nomination,” York said. “I am also thankful for Steve Stockman’s gracious acceptance of the result immediately following the vote count, and that our Republican Party is now united in its commitment to serving the taxpayers of Loudoun County with positive solutions,” he continued.

“Since beginning public service in 1996 as the Sterling District Supervisor, my focus has been on protecting Loudoun’s future,” York said, echoing the theme of his 2011 re-election campaign.  “It has been a struggle over the past four years to lead the current Board.”  He continued, “Its Democrat majority has been recklessly inattentive to fiscal restraint, squabbling over business opportunities, and obsessed with over-reaching regulation on homeowners and businesses.  This must change, and I’m committed to leading a new, visionary and fiscally-grounded Republican Board of Supervisors beginning in 2012.”

Delegate Thomas “Tag” Greason Endorses Scott York

I am pleased to announce my endorsement of Scott York for the Republican nomination for Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. Scott is a man of character and integrity who is simply the best choice to lead a unified Republican ticket for the Board of Supervisors on to victory in November.

As Chairman, Scott has worked hard for the citizens of Loudoun. He has been a champion on economic development with 53,000 new jobs added to Loudoun in the last 10 years with Loudoun now projected to be the #1 county in the nation for job growth over the next 5 years.

As Chairman, Scott has worked with Governor McDonnell and our local state delegation to secure much needed funding for key transportation improvements. Like me, Scott opposes higher tolls on the Greenway, and wants to see distance pricing implemented. Scott has been on the forefront of opposing cost overruns for the rail to Dulles project by pressing for the lower cost Metro rail station at the airport.

As Chairman, Scott is recognized around the state for his leadership dealing with issues pertaining to communities facing high growth rates. He has been one of the community leaders that has helped Loudoun become a great place to work, learn and raise our families. Scott has been endorsed by many of Loudoun’s Republican leaders, and now I am delighted to add my name to that list!

YORK CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON JULY 7 FUNDRAISER WITH KEN REID, AND ON THE TIMING OF 10th DISTRICT DEBATE

As planned for many weeks, Scott York will participate and speak at a fundraiser for Republican Board of Supervisors candidate Ken Reid on the evening of July 7 in Leesburg. Reid and York announced their formal support for each other’s nominations last month. This event is one of the final opportunities for both campaigns to solicit delegates for the upcoming Loudoun County Republican Convention. The deadline to file as a Delegate is Sunday afternoon, July 10.

Recently, the 10th District Republican Committee announced a debate on the same evening for candidates in the contested races for Chairman and Sheriff in Loudoun County. Scott York was invited and would enjoy another debate with his opponent, Steve Stockman.

This debate could’ve provided such an opportunity, but Scott has declined to participate and notified 10th District Chairman, Howie Lind, several days ago. The reasons are simple:

(1) the York campaign already has an important event scheduled with prospective delegates on the same evening, and no desire to cut short Scott’s participation to rush to a debate that was scheduled with knowledge of the Reid-York event; and
(2) the York campaign’s focus this week is on recruitment of delegates to the Republican Convention prior to the deadline this Sunday.

We are unsure why the event is continuing to be advertised after we declined to participate.

Instead, please come join us in supporting Ken Reid (flyer here) and Scott York by attending the fundraiser and signing up as a delegate. For more information go to yorkforloudoun.com/delegate or contact the campaign at 571.934.6144.
