Recognized throughout the State for his leadership in Loudoun County, Scott York has worked for creating economic development, lower taxes, a more accountable public schools budget, and solutions to our tangled transportation network. George Allen, former Virginia Governor, recently said, “Scott is a proven leader for the families, farmers and businesses of Loudoun County. Loudoun County is recognized as one of very best counties in the US, in significant part due to Scott York’s able leadership through the years.”
Scott leadership on the Board of Supervisors has helped paved the way for business such as the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Raytheon, Visa, and Orbital, to locate in Loudoun County. Over the last decade, Loudoun has attracted 53,000 new jobs. Scott successfully fought for changes to Loudoun’s commercial sign ordinance and for the passage of the Route 28 Comprehensive Plan Amendment that will help us to entice more commercial development in that important corridor.
Scott led the way working with his Fairfax counterpart to put in to play the plan that has led to the interchange improvements on Rt. 28 and to Atlantic Blvd and Pacific Blvd. More recently, Scott has worked closely with Governor Bob McDonnell’s administration to bring state money for critical road improvements such as an interchange at Belmont Ridge Road and Route 7, and a flyover at Sycolin Road and Route 7. He is currently working with the business community the business community and the State to bring much needed improvements to the Route 606 corridor. Scott is working to provide much needed relief to Waxpool Road by working with the Kincora project to speed up the timing to the construction of Gloucester Parkway.
Scott is a fiscal conservative that is working to keep taxes low! His leadership has helped Loudoun County to become an AAA rated county, saving taxpayers millions of dollars. With the school budget consuming 70% of the county budget, Scott has called for systemic change to how we build and run schools. Scott has fought to make sure that developers do not place the burden of development on the backs of taxpayers. Scott has been fighting to keep the cost down on the metro rail project to Loudoun, fighting MWAA decisions that will add several hundreds of millions of dollars to the cost of construction.
Scott currently serves on the Board of Supervisors’ Transportation/Land Use Committee and the Finance, Government Services & Operations Committee. He represents Loudoun County regionally on the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and the Route 28 Transportation Improvement District.
Scott also represents Loudoun County at the State level by serving on the Board of Directors for Virginia Association of Counties and on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Coalition of High Growth Communities.

Scott and his wife JoAnn have lived in the Sterling Community for 23 years. They are the parents of four children, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
